The development and use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is for us an extremely important approach to meeting the challenges of carbon-neutral aviation. But what is really behind SAF? What opportunities do we see in these alternative fuels?

The rationale behind Sustainable Aviation Fuel* is to replace fossil fuels with sustainable alternatives in the long term. For years, the Lufthansa Group has been one of the biggest purchasers of SAF and has secured sustainable kerosene for a quarter of a billion US dollars in order to be able to meet an increasing demand and to drive forward the development of SAF.

For a better eco-balance: travel more sustainably and offset your flights

You can already directly reduce the CO₂ emissions of your company’s air travel by purchasing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). No minimum investment is necessary for this, and you can have your commitment to your sustainability targets certified. For an investment starting with 2,000 EUR an official Scope 3 Mitigation Certificate issued by Muller BBM will be available for the eco balance reporting.

PartnerPlusBenefit corporate customers have the opportunity to redeem their Benefit Points for sustainable fuel (SAF). For example, when redeeming more than 240,000 Benefit Points corporate customer receive an Scope 3 Mitigation Certificate issued by Muller BBM for their Eco Balance Reporting

You can either reduce your CO2 footprint by offsetting through supporting high-quality climate protection projects. No minimum investment is necessary and investments are possible via a fixed amount or proportionate to your CO2 emissions. Corporate customers receive a Confirmation of CO2-compensation. Our cooperation partner, myclimate, leads compensation projects in reforestation, construction and operation of solar power and biogas plants, distribution of solar stoves.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is the generic term for all aviation fuels produced without the use of fossil energy sources. The currently most commonly used SAF is produced from biogenic residual materials. Fats from the food industry (used cooking fats) and industrial waste are used for this, so the production of SAF does not compete with food production.
